VaultOne is an expression of material constraint, permeable enclosure, and functional art. The structure embodies the essence of parametric design; it’s formally malleable, its design is adaptable, and its material logic is scalable. VaultTwo might encapsulate a public square or a portion of a park. In this instance, VaultOne encloses the lounge at The Art Commission’s annual event, The Mix. The pavilion becomes more than a partition between the art gallery and the lounge, it orients the room, allows inhabitants to maintain a connection with their surroundings while ‘inside’, and participates in the artistic expression of craft. The self-supporting nature of the individual pieces pays homage to a wholistic picture of society, the sum being more than its parts.
