Great Black Swamp Brewing Company was opened in 2009 by two homebrewers with a dream to share great locally brewed beer with Northwest Ohio. In 2021, the decision was made to consolidate brewing and tasting into one facility in the Heatherdowns neighborhood of Toledo, Ohio.

Originally a car wash and a lawn mower repair company, the new location of the Great Black Swamp Brewing Co. is an exercise in adaptive reuse.
