Toledo Parklets Installed

Mac Driscoll with ConnecToledo approached us last year after Toledo Design Collective's Park(ing) Day event about a parklet design-build project.
mADE has spent the past 6 months refining the design, hashing out details, and testing fabrication methods to get to this day!
Each of the two parklets are made in three pieces and are designed to be stored offsite over the winter months. The black material is 100% post-consumer recycled plastic - called Miura Board and requires little maintenance. Corten steel planters (with eventual grasses) add another layer of screening. The overall design plays with the tension between transparency and enclosure, allowing inhabitants to maintain a sense of security yet keeping the sightlines of the streetscape open.
A big thanks goes out to ConnecToledo for helping us make better streets for Toledoens!
